Some people are adept at responding to personal questions with non-answers such as "I prefer not to discuss my personal life" or "Let's talk about something else." If someone persists, you can always suggest discussing the topic at a later time.
Occasionally, lying may be necessary to protect your privacy. While not ideal, it may be the best option when dealing with overly intrusive coworkers. If you do choose to lie, keep it simple and believable, and try to avoid getting caught in the lie.
Maintaining a balance between friendly engagement and personal privacy can be a challenge, but it's possible with patience, respect, and effective communication skills.
